Home School Information Zone (HSIZ)

support@hsiz.org

Home School Information Zone (HSIZ) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation which was formed to organize the vast amount of resources available to homeschoolers. These resources include: groups, clubs, classes, academic & social activities, and web links and forms. These can all be found on our website and our annual HSIZ resource book.

HSIZ hosts various events throughout the year, such as Susan Wise Bauer on July 19, 2008 and the annual homeschooler book sale in May. Check our website throughout the year for more events.

HSIZ also sponsors groups, clubs, and activities. Currently we sponsor B/CS Homeschoolers, New Beginnings, HSIZ Homeschooler Library, Story of the World Co-op, and THSC-sanctioned orientation meetings. Will your group or activity be next?

Our hope is that all homeschoolers can:
Learn to be effective in their homeschool
Be connected to activities that fit their goals, philosophies, and religious beliefs
Receive ongoing education to keep learning fun for their children
Avoid burnout
Continue to homeschool, as long as they wish

Email us at:

  • bcs_new-b@hsiz.org for new homeschooler information
  • events@hsiz.org for information on any of our events (Susan Wise Bauer, book fair, etc...)
  • resourcebook@hsiz.org to add your group/club/activity to the HSIZ resource book 2008/2009 edition.

New Beginnings

New Beginnings was formed by veteran homeschoolers who have several years assisting, guiding and supporting new homeschoolers to successfully school through their first year and beyond.

The thought of homeschooling your children may seem overwhelming at first. We know several questions are going through your head. Can I really do this? Where do I get curriculum? What about socialization? Let us guide you in a gentle way to get your questions answered.

We are here to educate you, as well as be a support group for YOU, the homeschooling mom. Groups exist abundantly for children, but you are going to need support and guidance for yourself.

Workshop style monthly meetings address all of the above issues as well as other significant concerns in your first year.

By joining New Beginnings, we are confident you will feel better equipped to successfully homeschool your children.

Robotics
The Woodlands Homeschoolers

Now in its fifth year, The Woodlands Homeschoolers robotics team is a Venture Crew (a coed division of Boy Scouts) well on its way to great things. BEST robotics is a program that allows teams from private, public, and home school high schools compete in a fair environment. At the beginning of the six weeks we are given before competition, we have a kickoff day at which we are shown the years' course and are given a materials kit, with the permissible. Our team then sets to the task of designing and constructing a robot to successfully compete on the course. Another part of the competition is the BEST award, which includes a presentation to a panel of judges, a technical engineering notebook, a game day display and team spirit/community relations.
